Coordinate
conjunctions connect words, phrases and independent clauses.
Examples: and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet.
Subordinate conjunctions introduce dependent clauses and
show the relationship between the independent and dependent
clauses. Examples: after, although, as, because, before,
how, if, once, since, than, that, though, till, until, when,
where, whether, while.
Correlative conjunctions always appear in pairs and connect
equivalent sentence parts. Correlative conjunctions are
actually coordinating conjunctions connected to adjectives
or adverbs. Examples: both...and, either...or,
neither...nor, not only...but also, so...as, whether...or.
