If you plan to visit Nara, Japan, you should definitely stay at the Nakata Bed and Breakfast. This is a newly constructed, traditional, Japanese style hotel. The owners are Jun and Noriko Nakata. The room rates are very reasonable at $42.00 per night.
The hotel features private rooms with tatami floors.
There is also a lounge where guests can talk, watch wide screen TV, and get free tea and snacks.
Breakfast can be purchased at a very reasonable price.
The hotel is about 10 minutes walking distance from Nara Park and 10 to 25 minutes walking distance from several World Heritage Sites.
Todaiji Temple Kofukuji Temple Gangoji Temple Nara Park Deer in Nara Park Probably the most unique feature of the park is the deer (shika) which run wild. The deer are friendly for the most part and food (senbei) can be purchased to feed them.
Note: Watch out for deer pickpockets. The deer are used to being around people and will wait for the opportune moment to sneak up behind you and steal something out of your pocket, or even take the food right out of your hands. They are really quick.
