Work-Study
Posted By: Language Link, Russia
Date: December 10, 2007
Language Link's work-study programme is perfect for those who want to really immerse themselves in the riches of Russian language and culture while also gaining valuable EFL teaching experience. Work-Study participants spend approximately half their time studying Russian, and the other half working as a teacher of English. The programme thus provides a unique and affordable opportunity to greatly improve your Russian language proficiency, while simultaneously acquiring invaluable international work experience.
There are two programmes – Programme A, for those without a recognised TEFL qualification and Programme B, for those who do have a TEFL qualification.
Programme A includes a two week intensive TEFL training course and then an internship, which leads to an in-house TEFL certificate. During this paid internship, you teach 12 – 18 academic hours per week and attend 9 - 18 academic hours of Russian language tuition each week. The contracts last 16, 24 or 36 weeks plus 2 weeks of training.
Programme B contracts last 12, 24 or 36 weeks. As with Programme A, you teach 12 – 18 academic hours and attend 9 -18 hours of Russian language tuition per week. Academic support is provided by Language Link's Directors of Studies.
For the independent traveller, getting to Russia can be a minefield of red-tape, but Language Link simplifies the task and helps you every step of the way. Work-Study participants pay a programme fee, which covers language tuition, accommodation, visa support, medical services, immigration fees, work-permission and airport transfer (plus teacher training for programme A). You are paid for each academic hour that you teach, and your salary increases over time.
