OBJECTIVE:
To attain a satisfying position that would facilitate me to utilize all my expertise and knowledge as an ESL/EFL instructor/editor, Director of Studies, lecturer or School or Business Manager.

SUMMARY:
Having spent 10 years as an on air personality for different radio stations in Canada, I have gotten used to being noticed and am a voice Professional. I have extensive experience in broadcasting and am considered a music history expert. My experience in radio has given me the confidence to work as a lecturer/teacher.

For 6 years, I was operating my own business. Jobe’s House of Pepper Ltd. This gourmet condiment store was an import/export business with a retail frontage. Working from the store, I was able to provide over 3000 diverse kinds of gourmet condiments. In the 6 years or so of operation, I managed a web site, sold wholesale to local supermarkets and restaurants. I was selling hot sauces and collectables from my web site around the world. Working with producers from over 20 different countries, I managed to bring only the finest products of their type into my store and vend them to retailer and wholesalers around the globe.

During the time I was operating the store I was locally known as “The Pepperman” and ran television spots on the morning local show called BT or Breakfast Television to endorse my business. On this show, I would promote certain products from my store and speak regarding how to utilize them in food preparation and as condiments. I am an authority in peppers and chilies and have acted as an adjudicator for local cuisine events. I have given lectures on consumption of hot foods and cooking with condiments.

I have widespread computer familiarity and have created a web site for Jobe’s House of Pepper Ltd.

For the past six years, I have been teaching ESL along with ancillary jobs and opportunities in Beijing and in Guangzhou China. During the past 2 years I have been employed by EF/ING international, Starting as a senior teacher I quickly got moved to a Director of Studies position and given my own school. In this position I have been able to stabilize the teaching staff and the school as well as bring a higher level of quality education to this once flagging school.

I am a prompt learner and have a strong work ethic. I have ambition and superior communication skills, and with the experience of running a business, I have developed the indispensable skills to be in management. I recognize that I will be a positive feature to any company.

WORK HISTORY:
EF/ING International ShenZhen Aug. 2006-present
Senior Teacher EF Shenzhen, My duties were to teach a set number of hours to students both adult and children. Most of my teaching duties were with business adults as that was the needed position at the time. Seeing my quality of teaching and my strong work ethic I quickly advanced to the Director of Studies Position and was moved to a flagging branch where I proceeded to stabilize the teaching staff and improve the quality of education that the school was offering. With the company changing names and many employees leaving, my school was the only stable branch. I continued to work as DOS until the end of my contract.

WeiFang Number 3 middle /Vacational School Dec 2005- July 2006
ESL teacher lecturer. My duties were to design a spoken English program for the students and for the teachers then present this program as a teacher in the class room. I also taught the teacher how to teach my way and help improved their spoken English through the program that I developed. I completed my contract there and then shortly after moved to Shenzhen

China Communications Ltd. Guang Zhuo Aug. 2005-Nov.2005
Teacher of spoken English. My duties were to train Hotel and corporate employees ESL skills. Working from suggested text, and writing text of my own I completed my contract for this company before moving to Wei Fang. Also included in my duties was syllabus writing for other teachers. Creating text for students and tests.

Operations Manager- V-Life Enterprises INC. Sept. 2004-Oct 2004
Functioning with the chief executive of V-Life, I helped with translating and consultation of leasing space for the trade operations; I set up and designed instruction manuals for the retail operations. This was an in progress indenture to facilitate completion. I was brought in to substitute the other administrator who just stopped working one day. Given the opportunity to continue, subsequent to the completion of the contract, I decided to pursue other options.

ESL Teacher July 12 2002- Present
Teacher of spoken English, in this position I am responsible for teaching Students from the ages of 4-40 the basic requirements of speaking English, I teach grammar and sentence composition, I have experience with teaching Children. I have experience using New Interchange, BEC, New Headway, All Clear, Be My Guest, English for Hotel industry and have done lectures on English and how to study English effectively. During my time in Beijing I was considered an expert in running English corners. I have run hundreds of English Corners covering every topic in the world. I am also doing regular lectures on Culture. I am called upon to give input to environmental situations from time to time. I am a Canadian Pop culture professional and can get students to talk about some very hard and complex subjects and have been told that my classes are fun and very informative. I have experience writing and teaching business writing at all levels. I have given test in both oral and written English.
I have taught corporate business English for big companies like Air France, Kraft, Pure Fishing, GSI (Guangzhou Shipping International), Lonza and The USA embassy. I have taught engineers at Southern China Power Grid. Designed test for level PET6 English courses. I have given Spoken English oral exams for all levels of ESL speakers and I have experience-designing course for training Chinese English teachers. I have trained Public School teachers and have worked for solid training centers like Altec and Apex as well as many public schools at middle and high School levels.

Spices and Splices Cable Contracting August 1999 – Oct 2001
A small business arrangement as a sub-contractor. Duties included installation of cable TV, high-speed Internet services and residential telephones. I operated this side business on a proletarian basis. Essentially, I assumed the spare work from another contractor (A-1 Cable Communications - Owner, Gerald Murphy (902)876-0469 ).

Jobe’s House of Pepper Ltd. March 1995 – Dec. 2002
Owner and operator of Jobe’s House of Pepper Ltd., retail gourmet condiments store. Using a very small investment, this business began with 17 products. Additionally, has increased in size to over 1500 products. We are an importer/exporter retailer/wholesaler of gourmet specialty foods with a flourishing web business.

Cable Technician, Cablecom Limited September 1993 - Dec. 1996
Install, upgrade, service and construction of cable systems. Experienced coax splicer and energizer. I totally rebuilt a number of small cable systems through out Nova Scotia and New Brunswick with a small crew under my direction. My responsibilities included: duty designation, map redesign when necessary, splicing and energizing redesigned legs and setting up new systems.

CKDU/CJFX/CIOO/CJCH Radio, Programmer, on-air personality June 1987 - July 1997
I worked at first, as a volunteer for the collage radio station at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. The duties included On-air programming for my own show and for other shows designed for broadcast on Radio. I became the weekend on air personality for various radio stations for the next 4 years working part time on weekends and operating my business interests during the week. My shows included News with the Blues, Less is More, and The Little Green Man. This included a local TV show broadcast by Halifax Cable where I had worked as a technician. On air spots of ATV Breakfast Television etc.

Cable Technician, Halifax Cable May 1987- Sept. 1993
Class A Install/Service. Install cable, disconnects, service distribution line - to trunk amp. A qualified maintenance tech. I was also in the on call rotation set up to service systems outages.

Installer, Windsor Cable Oct 1985- May 1987
Installation of cable, disconnects, service calls from pole to house, construction and maintenance of cable system. This was a small system and had only two technicians, we shared all system problems.
