Complex Sentence Definition

A complex sentence
has one independent clause and at least one dependent clause
differs from a compound sentence in that the clauses are not equal
the emphasis or important point is typically contained in the independent clause

Complex Sentence Examples

After Mio eats breakfast, she goes to work.
While Mio reads a book, she listens to the radio.
Note: the emphasis or important points in the previous sentences are "Mio goes to work" and "Mio listens to the radio"
